The unit competed at this year's district canoeing competition, albeit with a severly reduced team. The contest is held annually between Peterborough, Huntingdon, Wisbech, Kings Lynn, Mildenhall, Boston and Lincoln. Peterborough's entry this year comprised of one cadet, who took part in the Senior Boys Sprint. Unfortunately L/C Wilson was not able to win his race. Last night saw the departure of a senior cadet to join the Royal Navy. This event is a very emotional experience for all instructors and cadets within the unit. Friends and instructors all joined together to wish Leading Cadet (SCC) C. McShane well in his furture career. In addition to a celebration buffet prepared by the Parent's and Friends Committee, Leading Cadet McShane was presented with a Boatswain's Call, a traditional badge of office in the Royal Navy, engraved with his name and rank. A portrait photo was also taken, which will be the first to join our new 'Wall of Fame' for cadets who have left the unit to join Her Majesty's Forces. |

Bag Packing at Morrisons Great Success |

Following the unit bag-packing at Morrisons in Peterborough, the 14 cadets and 4 staff who attended have helped the unit raise approximately £780. This funding will be a great help in supporting the unit through the year, and helping make sure we can provide the equipment we need to train our young people. From all at the unit, a big thank you to Morrisons, a big thank you to the cadets, and a big thank you to the shoppers who donated. |
